The Gallaudet University Regional Interpreter Education Center (GURIEC) is funded by the Department of Education, Rehabilitation Service Administration to provide and sponsor activities that will increase the number and diversity of qualified interpreters. To effectively accomplish this task and to maximize resources, expertise, funding, and leadership, GURIEC has joined forces with five other RSA-funded Centers across the United States to create the National Consortium of Interpreter Education Centers (NCIEC) and is working to build partner networks with interpreter education service providers, practitioners, educators, and consumers locally, regionally and nationally.
The states within the GURIEC region are Alabama, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
